The VFW is proud to help support the Female Veteran Suicide Prevention Act (H.R. 2915), which passed the House of Representatives
Research has found that women veterans are SIX times as likely as non-veteran women to commit suicide. Women veterans ages 18-29, many of whom have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, are TWELVE times as likely.
Congress can, and must, do more to address this crisis. Passing the Female Veteran Suicide Prevention Act is an important first step. We will continue to fight to improve mental health and suicide prevention programs for the women who have served in the Armed Forces.
